Cadet Club Contest!

 

It’s the first Cadet Club contest. The winner receives a Boxing Ontario prize pack. The task is writing a short article (300 word limit) on why amateur boxing is the best sport around, originality counts.

 

Send entries to 1185 Eglinton Ave. East, Toronto, Ontario, M3C 3C6 or email to nbowley@boxingontario. Include your name address and a creative boxing nickname for yourself. Deadline for entries is May 1st

It's Ontario Coaches Week. Look for free coaching breakfasts and free coaching courses around the province. Remember to tell your coach thank-you for their hard work! Check out the Coaches Association of Onatrio website for more details. 

April 8th
            
St. Catharines was treated to a show from our Boxing Ontario athletes, including the Cadets. The Cadets led off each sessions with great matches and set the bar high for all the following bouts. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were handed out. Make sure you check out the results pages to see who ended up victorious. Special mention to Rachel Young of McGrory's and Terrance Richards of BigTyme who received awards for being best Cadet Female and Cadet Male respectively.

Rule 17 – Decisions

 

c) RSC(H)

 

When the referee has stopped the contest due to a boxer having received hard blows to the head making him/her defenceless or incapable of continuing, the decision shall be RSC(H). The referee shall indicate to the jury and judges to annotate the score card RSC(H). At national competitions it is recommended that the referee first check with the ringside physician before rendering this decision.

Coaches Corner:

Cadets get your coaches to submit their coaching tips, exercises and drills to the membership. The purpose of Coaches Corner is to foster a relationship between coaches and to offer new and inventive ways to train your boxers. Coaches Corner also allows coaches to share their expertise and life experiences regarding coaching. Please help us make Coaches Corner a great resource by sending all your submissions to dkonney[@]boxingontario.com.

Mary Spencer

 

Fighting out of the Windsor Amateur Boxing Club, Mary Spencer has already a famous Canadian Boxer. Her resume is impressive, with National and International victories and championships under her belt. She is a certified coach and also a qualified instructor for BOX-ON! the youth fitness boxing program in Ontario. Look for Mary to continue adding accomplishments to already impressive career.
