BOXING EQUIPMENT - GENERAL INFORMATION

Please refer to the CABA rulebook for details on equipment specifications for competition. In general, your club will need:

Gloves-10oz competition gloves, 12 to 16 oz sparring gloves 



Headgear-These are mandatory during sparring sessions and competitions

 

Mouthpieces and cup protectors- (chest protectors for females) are also mandatory for competitions.

Hand-wraps

 

Singlets are compulsory during competition.
 

Punching Bags-Heavy bag, bag gloves, skipping ropes, medicine balls, weights, and floor mats.

Boxing Ring-One of the most expensive items for any fledgling boxing club is the ring. Many have solved this problem by building their own.

A diagram with dimensions appears in the CABA rulebook. A club may forego a large ring and use a floor-type training model. However, if a club anticipates running shows and competitions, it must buy, rent or build a suitable competition ring.
