What is BOX-ON! ?

BOX-ON! is a new standardized youth fitness program dedicated to using boxing training techniques as a means of achieving a healthy, active lifestyle.  The program is a non-contact routine that is adaptable to facility limitations and recreational schedules.  It is intended for youth ages 8-17 and can be utilized by program administrators in all types of clubs and youth centres.  Participation in BOX-ON! has many benefits some of which include; building confidence and self esteem, encourage and help youth in the community to lead positive lives. Boxing Ontario invites all phys ed administrators, and youth fitness enthusiasts to incorporate this unique program into their schools and classes. For more information on the BOX-ON! BOX-ON! Camp! - Dundas, ON

A BOX-ON! Training Camp is scheduled for  Wednesday February 27, 2008 for those interested in becoming BOX-ON! instructors. The camp will be held in Dundas, ON at the Highland Secondary School from 7:30-3pm. The cost to attend is 30. This is payable by cash, credit or cheque. Contact Deide at  dkonney

BOX-ON! Bags available for sale

BOX-ON! bags are now available for sale. They are available to any BOX-ON! instructor who wishes to purchase their own bag. The cost of the bag is $350. For this price you get:

New Fees

Effective December 1, due to increasing administrative costs the fee to attend BOX-ON! Camps will now be $30.00.


BOX-ON! Camp - London

On Saturday November 17 a BOX-ON! camp for those in the Southwest area who are intersted in becoming BOX-ON! instructors. It was held in the Athletic Club-South location and taught by Rosa DeMelo. New instructors were certified and are on their way to becoming BOX-ON! instructors. Welcome, Chuck, Joe, Daryl, and Yordan!


BOX-ON! Camp!-Dundas, ON

On Monday November 6. Charlotte Barker will be hosting a BOX-ON! camp for those interested in becoming BOX-ON! instructors. BOX-ON! this THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st

On Thursday September 21 and Wednesday October 11 Boxing Ontario is asking you to participate in a BOX-ON! session from 12-2pm to aid us in promoting Boxing in the Ballroom for the Canadian Liver Foundation.

The September 21st event will be held outdoors in Commerce Court ('round Bay and King) in the heart of the downtown Toronto financial district.

PAST BOX-ON! EVENTS

BOX-ON! and the YM/YWCA Team Up in Sarnia !

This Thursday, August 17th, BOX-ON! guru Kathy Ure will be conducting a 3 hour info and demo session in Sarnia for all the YMCA instructors in the South Western Ontario Region!

            This session is the beginning of an amazing step for BOX-ON! as the YMCA in Sarnia is going to be running the executive version of the BOX-ON! program every Monday starting September 9th. This is a HUGE achievement for BOX-ON! and is an indicator of the growth and popularity of boxing as a way to get active, stay fit, and improve yourself.

BOX-ON! Sarnia
Bluewater Boxing Club played host to it's surrounding community this past weekend and offered a one day boxing camp that featured  BOX-ON! Led by Kathy Ure, this boxing camp focused on nutrition, health and fitness through amateur boxing, hence the presentation of BOX-ON! to it's participants. A special highlight of this camp saw the induction of 5 new BOX-ON! instructors. These instructors were taught the program in an actual BOX-ON! setting which proved to be a positive and exciting learning environment. Kathy and the new instructors provided massive amounts of energy to all camp participants. Congratulations Paul Zahra, Mary Spencer, Bernice Booth, Claudia Renkwitz and Nicolette Rozier! Thank you once again Kathy for all your hard work!

      




BOX-ON! Toronto
St. Patrick Secondary School in Toronto indulged themselves with a six week BOX-ON! program. Beginning on October 27 and running until Dec 1. St. Pat's and it's students saw the true value of healthy, active living through the means of amateur boxing. Three classes were subject to Deide and Savoy's leadership, vigourous and fun sessions. St. Patrick's even took advantage of their Open House and had a BOX-ON! session specifically for the parents to watch! A big thank you goes out to St. Patrick Secondary School, Phys-Ed teacher Sal Mannella, and all three classes that exemplified maturity and enthusiasm for this program!

BOX-ON! Mississauga
The newly constructed Mississauga Secondary School indulged in BOX-ON! Kathy Ure spearheaded this action packed, awesome day. 3 phyed classes were lucky enough to have this program and Kathy!
One student loved it sooo much that I quote: " Yo! Sir! Can I stay for the next gym period? I love this program!" Thank you Mississauga Secondary and a big thank you to Kathy!
